Emergency vehicles are on the road.Update:Location: NinilchikType: MVC- InjuriesOn 08-19-16, at 2113 hours, Anchor Point Troopers responded to a single vehicle rollover on the Sterling Hwy near mile 122. Troopers were informed one of the occupants of the vehicle had been ejected and was lying in the roadway. Troopers, Ninilchik EMS and a Life Med helicopter responded to the scene. On scene the vehicle was identified as a 2001 Ford Ranger truck that was being operated by Cody C. Rhodes, age 20, of Soldotna. The passenger was identified as an 18 year old female also from Soldotna. The 18 year old female was transported by Helicopter to an Anchorage Hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition. Multiple witness’s on scene observed the Ford traveling at a high rate of speed south bound on the Sterling Hwy in the construction zone and passing in no passing zones. Witness stated the Ford was attempting to pass three vehicles when it lost control on a gravel part of the roadway that was under construction. The Ford fish tailed on the gravel and Rhodes was unable to regain control. The Ford went sideways in the roadway and traveled into the ditch were it began to roll multiple times while ejecting the female. The Ford came to rest in the north bound lane of the Sterling Hwy. Rhodes was also injured in the crash and was transported to a Hospital in Soldotna for treatment of minor injuries. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Sterling Hwy was shut down while EMS cared for both occupants.
