BREAKING: Chelsea’s Callum Hodson-Odoi Tests Positive For Coronavirus

first_imgChelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has become the latest high-profile Premier League figure to test positive for coronavirus after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was confirmed to have contracted the virus on Thursday.Chelsea announced Hudson-Odoi’s condition in the early hours of Friday and said the entire Chelsea squad, coaching staff and a number of backroom staff will “self-isolate in line with government guidelines”.A Chelsea statement said Hudson-Odoi “displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution.”He was tested for the virus and “his test came in positive” on Thursday evening the statement said adding that the winger “will undergo a period of self-isolation”.The latest development throws into serious doubt the possibility of Premier League fixtures going ahead this weekend.The Premier League called an emergency meeting after Arteta was revealed to have contracted coronavirus and the Gunners game against Brighton has been cancelled as a result.Chelsea is due to face Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but that fixture is now in doubt.On Thursday, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that three Foxes first team players had been placed in quarantine as a precautionary measure after they exhibited symptoms of the disease.The developments in England follows positive tests for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and Sampdoria forward Manolo Gabbiadini in Serie A.
