Soccer By DENNYS IORERE FC Genesis has a daunting task when they meet Port Moresby premier league leaders Mungkas in the Port Moresby soccer competition at the Bisini Soccer grounds on Sunday. Currently sitting on third spot on 19 points behind Mungkas on 32 and Keleiruna 25, FC Genesis will need to dig deep if they are serious about causing an upset against a side that is in peak form and riding high. In fourth place is University Inter FC, 16, PS Rutz 15, Cosmos 8, Momase 7 and Maclaren 6 bringing up the rear. Mungkas boast of a crop of players who have been together for some time and pretty much know their game well. But it has not been easy to come up with such a side unless there is discipline imposed on them – one of the ingredients of coming up with an exceptional side. And as such Mungkas coach David Passam will be counting on the trio of Abel Redenut, Basil Jofari and Moses Arisib to lead their charges to extend their victory and continue their solid position at the top. Gabriel Yanum should join Redenut to man their backline defence to thwart any attempts by their opponents while Junior Elijah and David Vetali will be dictating play from the midfield to allow their strikers to find the target. Despite their inconsistent performance throughout the season, FC Genesis should not be written off because they have the players who are capable of delivering the goods but do they have the ammunition to last the full minutes of play. Stopper Andrew Lepani and midfielder Roniel Igens, who will be calling the shots from centre, will be expected to distribute for their strikers Nathaniel Lepani, Brett Seriba, Riggy Togubai and Jessie Niebo for opportunities. In other game on Sunday, Keleiruna will meet Momase, while in tomorrow’s games, University Inter FC face Cosmos and Maclaren will take on PS Rutz.
